FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Bluetown Architects Co., Ltd. presents the Song-Zhang-Kou New Rural Housing project, a unique approach to rural housing design in Siyang, Jiangsu, China. The project aims to address the collective lifestyle for the elderly population and keep a minimal budget for improvement. The design draws inspiration from traditional Northern Jiangsu Architecture and is tailored to meet the specific needs of the local community.
The Song-Zhang-Kou project introduces a cluster house grouping that creates various village cores, fostering neighborhood bonding and preserving the collective lifestyle. Each individual courtyard serves as a private space for a veggie garden, storage, and sun-cure habits, enhancing the living experience for the residents. The housing style is a refined interpretation of traditional Northern Jiangsu Architecture, simplified to meet budget constraints while maintaining aesthetic appeal.
With a focus on improving the well-being of rural residents and the new rural community's outlook, the project provides over 600 tenants with an affordable and pleasant new home. The design team has integrated the raw demands of the future tenants, including large storage and courtyard needs, into the construction outcome, ensuring a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity.
The project was built in 2020 and has garnered recognition, receiving the Iron A' Design Award in 2021 for its well-designed, practical, and innovative approach to rural housing, meeting professional and industrial requirements.
