FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
googoods, in collaboration with the Taiwan Design Research Institute, has transformed Shin Tay Yuan, a 50-year-old ceramic decal factory in Yingge, Taiwan, into a modernized space that aims to enhance public understanding and appreciation of the ceramic decal industry. The revitalization program reflects the regional characteristics of Taiwan and offers a simplified communication process for visitors to comprehend the professionalism of the factory and the value of its products. The project commenced in October 2020 and was completed in January 2021 in New Taipei City, Taiwan.
The design concept draws inspiration from the ceramic industry, utilizing factory materials such as wood, steel, ceramic tile, and punched-plate. The space features elements derived from the screen printing process, including hanging partitions and indicating systems. The entrance showcases punched-plate and a white space reminiscent of white porcelain, symbolizing the printing process on a white T-shirt. The project area spans 272 sqm and has been recognized with the Silver A' Design Award in 2021 for its exceptional creativity and innovation.
Shin Tay Yuan offers an experiential space that not only introduces guests to the ceramic decal industry but also emphasizes the technical expertise and dedication behind the production process. Through simplification, infographics, and interactive installations, the factory aims to enhance communication efficiency and reduce manpower wastage. The project team, led by Art Director Chihong Chuang and Project Managers Yuhan Hsu and Iju Lin, successfully overcame challenges related to space distortion, database arrangement, and strategic execution, resulting in a remarkable transformation of the factory.
