Yida Creation City's Groundbreaking Exhibition Center

Renowned architect Ling Chen unveils the futuristic Exhibition Center, a groundbreaking project rooted in the Yida science and technology new town base. The center, inspired by "floating polysilicon," embodies the image IP of the information technology industry in a powerful polyhedron form. It establishes a dialogue between the exhibition function and the surrounding landscape parks, reflecting the future value of the area with its striking design.

The architectural form, wrapped in milky white U-shaped glass curtain walls, exudes a hazy and mysterious sense of science and technology, perfectly capturing the essence of the information technology industry. The center's technical specifications include a project area of 4730.08 m2 and a total construction area of 141602m2, seamlessly integrating with the landscape to form a large park system.

The project, initiated in 2018 in Zhengzhou, Henan, was completed in 2019 and put into use in 2020, marking a significant milestone in architectural innovation. The Exhibition Center serves as an industrial exhibition space, investment promotion service, office meeting, leisure negotiation, and catering roadshow hub, catering to diverse needs within the Yida science and technology new town base.

The formal language rising at the corner of the building shapes a flexible and powerful facade image, while the interior corresponds to the functional space of the roadshow hall and the lecture hall, creating a harmonious blend of aesthetics and functionality. The project's integrated design of architecture and landscape, along with the use of matte stainless steel ceiling on the first floor, establishes a captivating dialogue between the building and the surrounding landscape water system.

The Exhibition Center overcame various creative, technical, and research challenges to bring the vision to life. The first floor's urban exhibition space and negotiation functions, along with the large floor glass curtain wall, seamlessly connect the indoor and outdoor landscape vision. The second floor serves as the conference roadshow space, meeting the needs of enterprise product releases and large-scale conferences, while the third floor houses the joint office space, interpreting the office mode of Yida's new era.

Ling Chen, the co-founder and chief designer of WSP ARCHITECTS, has been a trailblazer in architectural design, with a concept of a "walkable city" that has garnered widespread acclaim. With numerous planning and architectural design projects to his credit, Chen's innovative approach has earned him recognition as one of the top 10 new Chinese architects in 2005 and a recipient of the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in 2022.
