FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MuSe Helsinki: Redefining Traditional Wooden Architecture in Seurasaari

Gyula Takács, a Hungarian architect, has unveiled the innovative MuSe Helsinki, a museum project that challenges the conventional norms of wooden architecture in the Seurasaari island of Helsinki. The project draws inspiration from the island's rich history, featuring 78 buildings shipped from various parts of Finland over the past century. Takács' design seamlessly integrates modern engineering precision with the island's organic development, creating a unique and harmonious architectural ensemble.

The museum's three new arrival buildings, strategically positioned along the north-south axis, serve as a bridge between the traditional skanzen houses and the city, adding new but familiar functions to the island. Takács emphasizes the importance of meeting contemporary energy, fire protection, and building engineering needs while respecting the island's historical context. The project's realization technology is based on up-to-date engineering connections, system-matching, and modular edits, ensuring a futuristic yet environmentally conscious design.

With a project site area of 10,000 sqm and a museum building featuring two levels, MuSe Helsinki stands as a testament to Takács' commitment to sustainable architecture. The design's interaction with the surrounding environment and its ability to provide energy, physical, and mental protection for both the skanzen houses and visitors reflect the architect's dedication to creating structures that enrich the environment. The project, which commenced in January 2017 and concluded in July of the same year, was exhibited in Budapest and Helsinki in November 2017, garnering widespread acclaim for its innovative approach.
