Bluetown Wuxi Guixiangli: Embracing Song Dynasty Aesthetics in Contemporary Urban Living

CHINA -- /ARCHITECTURE/newswire -- Aug 30, 2023

The Sales Center Inspired by the Elegance of the Song Dynasty

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Zhijun Zhong's Vision for a Contemporary Interpretation of Song Dynasty Aesthetics

The Bluetown Wuxi Guixiangli Sales Center, designed by Zhijun Zhong, draws inspiration from the enduring artwork of the Song dynasty, infusing the space with the refined world of that era. Located in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, the project innovatively interprets the elegance of Song dynasty aesthetics, embracing a contemporary urban slow living lifestyle.

The 400-square-meter space incorporates contemporary aesthetics, applying Song dynasty architectural and design elements to create a contemporary Chinese style. The structure features exposed traditional wood elements integrated with modern materials, creating interconnected yet distinct contemporary social spaces.

The entrance corridor and central hall area are designed to evoke an ethereal Eastern Zen atmosphere, integrating Eastern Zen elements with contemporary design techniques. The project was completed in December 2023 at the northwest intersection of Heng 2 Road and Zong 2 Road, Huishan District, Wuxi City, Jiangsu Province, China.

The project was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in 2024, recognizing its outstanding expertise and innovation in interior space, retail, and exhibition design.
