DA INTEGRATING LIMITED Unveils KennaXu Gallery

DA INTEGRATING LIMITED proudly presents KennaXu Gallery, a 223 square meter showroom designed to redefine the relationship between art and public space. The gallery, located at the Intersection of Yitian Road and Fuqiang Road, Futian District, Shenzhen, China, was conceptualized by Chief Designer Chinman Ngai and realized from November 2018 to September 2019.

The space, dominated by a white hue, creates a modern, simplistic spatial tone, providing an inclusive backdrop that fully displays the color, composition, aesthetics, and thinking of exhibited paintings. The design aims to create a free and serene ambiance, enabling harmonious interaction between light and shadow, nature, and artworks, achieving the beauty of art.

Reflecting on the relationship between gallery and art space, the design team discovered more possibilities of the gallery as a public space. Located in an old residential community, the site blends a strong living atmosphere with beautiful natural landscape, integrating art aesthetics and learning into daily life.

The project faced challenges in converting the former residence into an art space. The original space consisted of two narrow and dim floors, looking different from an art space. However, the unique windows and structures of the gallery integrate closely with the old community, bringing in the daily chatter of residents, sounds of footsteps, and birdsong from outdoor groves, creating a multi-sensory experience.

DA INTEGRATING LIMITED is a creative solutions provider for spaces of cross-border contemporary art, seamlessly integrating pragmatism and contemporary art into daily life. The design practice, founded by Chinman Ngai in London in 2013, has created numerous contemporary art spaces, including Shenzhen eMoCA, Sanya Museum of Contemporary Art, KennaXu Gallery, and Tus Museum of Contemporary Art.
