FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Ketan Jawdekar, along with Rajvardhan Kamire and Atreyi Sawant, has created a stunning rooftop restaurant, Sky Bar, inspired by the rich heritage of art, architecture, and culture in Kolhapur, India. The design concept revolves around the fusion of sustainable and natural materials, utilizing recycled paper tubes to connect with the local textile industry. The restaurant boasts a parametric installation of 20521 paper tubes, creating an interactive and visually striking ceiling design that oscillates with the natural breeze, reflecting the surrounding textile mills' context.
The innovative use of recycled paper tubes, stone, and wood in the design not only showcases a commitment to sustainability but also sets Sky Bar apart as a completely green and environmentally conscious establishment. The restaurant is situated on the rooftop of Citrus Hotel in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, offering an indoor space of 1800 square meters and an open-to-sky terrace of 150 square meters.
The design team overcame various challenges, including the narrow space constraints and the need to integrate different sections seamlessly while maintaining visual continuity. The installation of the paper tube ceiling, amidst existing solar panels, required meticulous planning and execution, further complicated by the involvement of architecture students in the construction process.
