Ribbon Restaurant: Redefining Korean Cuisine with Modern Elegance

The "Ribbon" restaurant, designed by Hao Chun Chang, embodies a festive atmosphere on special days and holidays, with patterns, lines, irregular cuts, and rhythmic combinations creating a sense of ceremony. The precise yet fluid interior lighting design adds elegance to the ambience in shades of brown and gray. The restaurant reinterprets and repackages Korean cuisine with a modern technique and semi-industrial style, offering a consistent design language with diverse changes of lighting and volumes.

Integrating the restaurant's visual identity and a combination of the color palette, stone, and wood features, the harmonious environment is created with a great balance between bulkiness and gentleness. The half-circle plaza in front of the facade and the tilted staircases with embedded light strips contribute to a sense of earnestness, while the quotation-mark-shaped wooden frame and the diamond-shaped pattern on the door panel create an exotic feeling that attracts visual focus and attention.

The restaurant, finished in October 2020 in Taichung, Taiwan, spans 265 square meters and features a semi-open-plan kitchen with a bar counter arrangement. The suspended shelving allows convenient arrangement of utensils, giving a sense of neatness to the restaurant. The great-sized floor-to-ceiling glass panels and shading ensure immense introduction of sunlight while maintaining customer privacy. The illumination of the space is improved without becoming too harsh to the eye, and the overall open-floor plan and translucency increase the use of electricity during the day.
