Tomoya Akasaka's Marche Vison Redefines Regional Collaboration Through Food
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Tomoya Akasaka's Marche Vison is a groundbreaking platform that reimagines traditional farmers' markets, promoting regional collaboration through food and dining events. Inspired by the water cycle and the torii gates at the Akone Yashiro Shrine, the design symbolizes the connection between heaven and earth, creating a dynamic landscape that blends business with the tranquility of nature.
The facility, located in Taki town, Mie prefecture, Japan, opened in 2021 and covers an area of 10,406.39 square meters, with a total building area of 2,915.42 square meters. The design features expansive roofs, rain curtains, and local wooden louvres, creating an engaging space that reconnects visitors with the changing seasons and reduces energy consumption.
Marche Vison's unique design balances the slowly changing landscape with the dynamism needed in commerce, accommodating commercial trends while preserving the site's unique identity. Overcoming the challenge of integrating the natural surroundings, the design ensures accessibility for all visitors, including wheelchair and pushchair users, while maintaining a deep connection with nature.
Tomoya Akasaka, a renowned holistic architect with over 25 years of experience, is the founder and principal architect of ORGA-Lab. His objective is to devise authentic environments that stimulate and captivate the human senses, implementing a comprehensive approach that takes into account the interaction between time, space, and the five senses.
