Quincy Li's Yulonghu Community Center project, located in Xuzhou, China, has been awarded the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in Architecture, Building, and Structure Design for 2022.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Quincy Li's Yulonghu Community Center project, adjacent to the Xuzhou New City Dalong Lake Scenic Area, is a metropolitan top resource aggregation field integrating finance, education, and stereoscopic landscape. The design continues the cultural deposits of the ancient capital, Xuzhou, adhering to the aesthetic mood of Chinese style and fully exploring the surrounding landscape resources to create a livable community center between mountains and water.
The project, completed in July 2021, features a three-stage composition of classical architecture, emphasizing spatial experience sense and detail scale. It incorporates modern techniques to reveal a highly aesthetic oriental modern aesthetic while inheriting the three-stage composition of classical architecture. The design also emphasizes the purity and cleanliness of the facade and the rhythm and texture of the material itself.
The project faced challenges in the design of the overhanging components coming down from the eaves, which were discussed repeatedly to achieve a refined component, a far-reaching outcrop, and a light effect. Ultimately, a T-stub steel form was used to make the exposed structure achieve the expected effect.
The project started in August 2020 and finished in July 2021 in Xuzhou, China. The design team members include Hu Qiao, Huang Kai, and Jin Guangshan.
