CHEWEN CHOU Unveils Urban Sanctuary Inspired by Su Shi's "Ding Feng Bo"
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CHEWEN CHOU introduces "Spirit of Stillness," an urban sanctuary in Taipei City, Taiwan, blending Eastern philosophy with modern sensibility to create a contemplative living space. The design, winner of the Silver A' Design Award, harmoniously integrates artistry with functionality, offering a refuge from the urban hustle.
The 120-square-meter apartment embodies the tripartite philosophy of SPIRIT, valuing work, recreation, and rest equally. It features a specially crafted art wall supporting a 30-kilogram Bodhisattva sculpture, energy-efficient LED lighting, and thermal insulating materials for enhanced ventilation.
Selected materials, including stone fragments and Italian eco-friendly paints, promote resource recycling and sustainability. The design's intuitive user experience maximizes natural light and incorporates air-purifying green plants for a consistent flow of fresh air.
Inspired by Su Shi's "Ding Feng Bo," the design merges traditional elements with modern aesthetics, creating a dialogue between the past and present. The project commenced in March 2023 and concluded in August 2023, showcasing meticulous research and planning to achieve a cohesive final design.
CHEWEN CHOU, a specialized interior designer, led the project alongside HSAIO YIN LIN, overcoming creative, technical, and regulatory challenges to realize a tranquil, sustainable, and aesthetically pleasing space. The design offers a model for sustainable yet aesthetically pleasing urban living spaces, elevating the impact of cultural richness on the design.
