FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
After 29 years, Chichibu welcomes back the magic of movies with the grand opening of United Cinemas Unicus Chichibu in the summer of 2022. Developed by P&D Consulting in collaboration with the city and United Cinemas, this cinema complex has been eagerly anticipated by the citizens.
The cinema complex is designed to be more than just a place to watch movies; it aims to be a comfortable living room for the citizens of Chichibu. Embracing the city's natural beauty, the cinema offers a welcoming and cozy atmosphere, with a design that integrates the surrounding nature, including the iconic Mt. Buko and Nagatoro river.
Featuring seven screens with a total capacity of 650 seats, the cinema boasts advanced technology, including laser projectors and a full automation projection system. Most notably, the cinema is designed to cater to the city's smaller population, with most screens having a capacity of less than 100 seats, ensuring a variety of movie options for the citizens.
This ambitious project, which took over 10 years of planning, has finally come to fruition, offering a unique cinematic experience that aims to revitalize the city and become an iconic landmark along the main road from the Tokyo district.
Mitsuhiro Shinohara, the project manager of the construction facility department at United Cinemas, led the realization of this exceptional cinema complex, bringing his expertise in interior design and international law to create a space that not only celebrates movie culture but also fosters community engagement and intergenerational communication.
United Cinemas Unicus Chichibu is a testament to the power of design and technology to enhance the quality of life and contribute to the cultural enrichment of a community. This project has been recognized with the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award in 2023, acknowledging its outstanding contribution to interior space, retail, and exhibition design.
