Renowned Designers Han-Chung Liu and Ling-Fong Ko Redefine Classic in Taipei City
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Inspired by the Eastern classic sash window, Han-Chung Liu and Ling-Fong Ko have redefined classic design in a modern metropolitan style residence, completed in June 2019 in Taipei City, Taiwan. The 165 square-meter homestead includes a porch, living room, dining room, kitchen, two bedrooms, and three bathrooms. The project was awarded the prestigious Iron A' Design Award in 2020 for its well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements.
The designers incorporated lattice iron and classic designed furniture as the main elements, combined with the client's rich collections, to create a cultural and elegant living space. The minimalist elements and classic designer furniture were used to build the Modern Metropolitan style, offering a wonderful space for retirement, leisure time, and family visits. The space features simple color palettes and plenty of hidden storage, creating a cozy and tidy environment.
One of the biggest challenges was creating a proper display area for the client's massive antique collections. The designers restructured the space, utilizing floor slabs, hidden storage, and double-acting doors to build comfortable and broader views within the limited space. The modern connecting sliding door of the main wall of the living room is an ingenious idea, combining three door pieces with slightly different functions, stacking the artistic level of the overall space.
