Resort Design Inspired by Suichang's Cultural Heritage Wins Golden A' Design Award

He Zhou's award-winning resort design, "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon," draws inspiration from Suichang's rich cultural heritage, aiming to revitalize the village through art and culture. Located in a county with thousands of years of cultural connotations, the project integrates traditional elements with modern design, creating a natural and easeful living environment.

The design stands out for its integration of artwork and time-honored objects into the interior decorations, combining primitive simplicity with functionality and modern style. Utilizing locally sourced materials like old elm, bamboo, celadon, and old brick, the project reimagines traditional elements in a contemporary context, reflecting the designer's commitment to preserving local culture.

Spanning an area of 483 square meters, the resort design embodies a harmonious blend of history and modernity, offering guests an idyllic retreat surrounded by natural beauty. The project, realized from May 2018 to May 2019, faced challenges in integrating with the local ecology and overcoming geographical barriers, ultimately creating a comfortable lifestyle amidst rugged mountainous terrain.

He Zhou's exceptional work has been recognized with the Golden A' Design Award in 2020, celebrating the project's outstanding creativity, trendsetting design, and significant impact on the world. The resort's unique approach to cultural revitalization and sustainable design has set a new standard for excellence in interior space, retail, and exhibition design.
