Introducing Karamba, a stool design by Vasil Velchev, inspired by ship equipment and featuring a unique spherical shape with functional storage capabilities.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Vasil Velchev introduces Karamba, a stool design that transcends conventional furniture. The spherical shape, adorned with colored ropes, serves as a functional storage container with a hidden drawer and rotatable wheels. The stool's design draws inspiration from pirate equipment, incorporating elements that mimic a captain's treasure chest.
Constructed from solid wood, Karamba boasts a unique feature - the rope, intricately attached to the legs and piercing the body, creating a visually striking appearance. The stool's double functionality as both seating and storage makes it a versatile and practical addition to any space.
Measuring 530mm x 530mm x 430mm, Karamba is crafted from wood, ropes, and furniture hardware, with the option of chipboard for a cost-effective version. The design process involved extensive research into pirate equipment, ropes, and knots, culminating in a three-month realization period.
Velchev's creative vision and technical expertise have been recognized with the prestigious Iron A' Design Award in 2019, affirming Karamba's status as a well-designed, practical, and innovative creation that meets professional and industrial requirements.
