Yun Pin Design's Hung-Yuan Hsu Transforms a 40-Year-Old House into a Multi-functional Commercial Space
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Yun Pin Design, led by Hung-Yuan Hsu, has unveiled "Gato," a captivating renovation project that breathes new life into a 40-year-old house, transforming it into a multifaceted commercial space. The project, completed in January 2020 in Taiwan, seamlessly blends vintage aesthetics with modern functionality, offering a unique experience for visitors.
The renovation aims to harmoniously coexist with the old house, creating a vintage atmosphere through the imitation of old, hand-painted, and rusty tracery. The space, covering approximately 112 square meters, caters to the client's VIP shoe customers, offering a complex experience that includes a shoe exhibition and sale, coffee and dining, bar, and cigar collection. The design cleverly integrates modern cat paintings from the client's collection, adding a distinctive touch to the space.
The project's unique features include Italian terrazzo stone in the bar, laminate flooring, solid wood veneer ceiling, and copper-colored faux rust piping, all contributing to the timeless and natural texture of the space. The designer has meticulously planned the space, ensuring a smooth and straight path through different areas, each illuminated with varying color temperature lighting during the day and night to create two distinct atmospheres.
The project faced challenges due to the original house's low ceiling height and aged walls, but the designer ingeniously utilized antique design and wood tones to open up the space and create a classical yet trendy ambiance. The result is a fusion of retro and novelty, perfectly encapsulating the essence of "Gato" (the Spanish word for cat) through the incorporation of cat paintings throughout the space.
Yun Pin Design's "Gato" has been recognized with the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award in Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design in 2023, celebrating its outstanding creativity and resourcefulness. The project stands as a testament to Yun Pin Design's commitment to delivering high-quality, innovative designs that enrich the built environment and elevate the customer experience.
