Archiland Unveils the Samaranch Memorial in Tianjin, China
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Archiland proudly presents the Samaranch Memorial, a sustainable and innovative museum designed to honor the legacy of Mr. Samaranch and celebrate the Olympic spirit. The memorial, located in Tianjin, China, covers an area of 14 hectares with a building area of 17,800 square meters.
The design of the Samaranch Memorial is inspired by the five Olympic rings, with an "8" shape to commemorate the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and an "S" shape representing "Samaranch." The building's unique infinity shape contains a ramping loop, creating a natural flow sequence of entrance, exhibition, roof gardens, and servicing functions in one generous gesture.
Integrating traditional Chinese and western styles, the memorial offers a multi-dimensional experience space, showcasing the collection of Mr. Samaranch's life and providing various functional spaces for conferences, seminars, exhibitions, and other activities.
Archiland's commitment to sustainability is evident in the design, with a focus on smart energy usage. The building maximizes natural light, saving over 84% of energy while creating a comfortable environment. The project, which began in 2011, was completed in 2013, marking a significant achievement in architectural and sustainable design.
The Samaranch Memorial has been recognized with the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in 2020, reflecting its remarkable contribution to architecture, building, and structure design.
