FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Norm, a two-story wooden building with a floor area of 285.13m2 and a building area of 96.89m2, is a distinctive hotel concept that aims to provide a chill experience for guests surrounded by nature and art. The hotel's exterior, designed in black, seamlessly integrates with the natural environment, offering a unique and unobtrusive presence. The interior features natural trees, creating a borrowed landscape that allows guests to immerse themselves in the forest while enjoying the contrast between indoor and outdoor spaces.
The hotel's symbolic dining kitchen fosters communication through shared culinary experiences, enhancing the sense of connection among guests. Norm is designed to offer a serene environment where visitors can unwind and spend quality time with loved ones, away from the pressures of daily life. The space is carefully curated to evoke nostalgia and tranquility, reminiscent of the peacefulness of childhood, and provides a unique experience through artist-designed furniture and tools.
Norm's design journey began in August 2018, with construction commencing in April 2019. The project was completed under the leadership of architect Hayato Ishii, who navigated the challenges of harmonizing the building's design with the surrounding natural environment, ultimately creating a one-of-a-kind retreat that seamlessly blends with its picturesque setting.
Throughout the design process, the team engaged in extensive discussions to create a tranquil and serene environment that encourages relaxation and quality time with loved ones. Norm's unique approach to hospitality, centered around the themes of chill and art, sets it apart as a destination where guests can slow down, reconnect with nature, and revitalize their spirits.
Norm's innovative design, coupled with its commitment to providing a serene and immersive experience, has earned it the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building, and Structure Design category in 2024. This accolade recognizes Norm's outstanding creativity and its contribution to enhancing the quality of life for its guests, making it a standout destination for art and nature enthusiasts.
