Lok Ping Edwin Chow's latest project, The Henley, is a space-themed coffee shop that takes inspiration from Hong Kong's inner-city airport and space tourism, creating a unique and futuristic experience for customers. The project, completed in December 2022, offers a blend of comfort and space exploration, redefining the traditional coffee shop concept.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Lok Ping Edwin Chow's team has meticulously designed The Henley, a coffee shop in Hong Kong, to reflect the concept of space journey. The interior, spanning approximately 250 sq m, features a long, narrow corridor leading to a brightly lit space, resembling the entrance of a spacecraft. The coffee bar and main seating area are strategically positioned to enhance the space journey experience for visitors.
To ensure a seamless blend of comfort and space exploration, the design incorporates plants, curves, custom-made lighting, and materials with different textures and finishes on the ceiling, walls, and flooring. The use of steel, aluminum, concrete, wood, feature glass, and ESG fabrics and paint reflects the balance between hard and soft, warm and cold materials, contributing to the futuristic ambiance.
The design team paid special attention to the circular flow within the space, aligning it with the architecture to create a cohesive customer experience. Despite challenges posed by the irregularly shaped space and low ceiling, the team successfully integrated the space journey concept into the design, providing a unique and immersive environment for visitors.
