Discover the innovative restaurant design by Masanori Goto, featuring illuminated rattan partitions and meticulously crafted oak furniture, now open in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Masanori Goto's Junno's Table in Shibuya, Tokyo, Japan, is a unique restaurant design that showcases the beauty of illuminated rattan partitions and meticulously crafted oak furniture. The walls and floors are finished with plaster materials, and all the furniture, including tables, chairs, counters, and partitions, is meticulously created from oak. The sofa seating area features illuminated rattan partitions that radiate beautiful light from within, gracefully enveloping the space. The rattan itself is a traditional craft, skillfully created by artisans from a specialty shop with a legacy dating back to 1926 in Hiroshima, Japan.
To attach rattan to oak partitions, Goto secured it with brass frames, enhancing the space's beauty through the reflection of light. Achieving a fantastical illumination required meticulous adjustments to the distance between the rattan and the light source. Balancing the light was crucial; too much intensity risked creating a dazzling effect, while too little hindered the effective expression of the rattan's beauty.
This Restaurant is Opened in Shibuya Tokyo Japan in January 2024. The design was awarded Bronze in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2024. Recognized as "MOST VIEWED & MOST POPULAR" for two consecutive terms at the FRAME Magazine DESIGN AWARD, Masanori Goto is emerging as a noteworthy Japanese designer to watch.
