Ryumei Fujiki and Yukiko Sato Complete Renovation of Continuous Plate House 2.0 in Fukui-city, Japan
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Ryumei Fujiki and Yukiko Sato have completed the renovation of Continuous Plate House 2.0, located in Fukui-city, Fukui Prefecture, Japan. The project, which began in March 2001 and was completed in August 2019, involved the transformation of the first floor of the house. The renovation aimed to create a space that can be used for various purposes, not just at breakfast, resulting in a calm and cozy family room.
The renovation involved eliminating the existing food storage and corridors, making the entire space one room wide. The sink was changed from a wall-mounted type to an island type, making it a more space centered on the kitchen unit. The kitchen area is covered with spruce CLT panels, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.
The Continuous Plate House 2.0 renovation was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2020 in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious award recognizes the outstanding and creatively ingenious designs that contribute to quality of life improvements, making the world a better place.
