Discover the Unique Blend of History and Modernity at Ueno Book House
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Ueno Book House, nestled in the Huizhou Wild Island Cultural Life Community, is a captivating blend of history and modernity. Designed by Wenke Lin and Zhengyuan Sun, this bookstore is a cultural haven that preserves the city's past while embracing contemporary design elements.
The design team's meticulous approach connects the history and environment with the architecture, creating a space where old memories intertwine with new stories. The former sloping building structure has been reorganized to offer a unique layout, while the weather-beaten brick walls harmonize with modern design elements, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in the city's rich heritage.
Spanning nearly 300 square meters, the library integrates coffee and books as its main functional forms, offering a multi-cultural urban space for knowledge-seeking, conversations, and leisure. The space is a testament to the symbiotic relationship between people and bookstores, guided by spirit and emotion.
Ueno Book House took half a year to be conceived and formed, with meticulous attention to detail in material selection and design realization. The transformation of the former distillery boiler room into a "time mailbox" and the preservation of the old chimney as a cultural symbol add layers of historical significance to the space.
Located in Building B4, Yedao Cultural Life Community, the bookstore stands as a symbol of the city's evolution and industrial civilization. The design project was completed on May 16, 2021, in Huizhou City, Guangdong Province.
Wenke Lin's Ueno Book House has been recognized with the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in 2022, celebrating its outstanding expertise, innovation, and remarkable design that seamlessly blends history and modernity.
