Nathan Fell's Bienville House reimagines urban living with a bold duplex design, maximizing outdoor access and redefining indoor home life on a small urban lot in New Orleans, LA.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Nathan Fell's Bienville House features concrete cast in place board formed ThermoMass walls, American Fiber Cement exterior cladding, and LaCantina sliding glass doors, creating a monolithic, transparent, and open design. The duplex maximizes space with communal areas accessing outdoor light, air, and volume, while the rear unit offers seclusion and the front unit engages with the city.
The project, started in January 2017 and completed in June 2019, faced challenges in complying with local regulations and historic provisions, resulting in a more complex design. The unconventional use of materials and adherence to environmental considerations set the Bienville House apart in the city's residential development landscape.
Nathan Fell, an American Architect with over 20 years of design experience, reconfigures and distills the American ideal of space to favor an urban lifestyle. The Bienville House was awarded the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in 2020, reflecting the designer's prodigy and wisdom in creating trendsetting, impactful designs.
