Revolutionary "Pocket House" Design

Architect Cristina Menezes introduces the groundbreaking "Pocket House," a sustainable residential concept that redefines modern living. The innovative design, housed within a standard 40-foot container, embodies eco-friendly principles, mobility, and efficient construction.

The "Pocket House" is a testament to sustainable architecture, featuring a unique approach to living small with a focus on sustainability and mobility. By repurposing a shipping container, the design minimizes waste and construction time, offering a swift and eco-conscious housing solution.

Constructed in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, the "Pocket House" project commenced in May 2013, with the interior design completed in just ten days. The design team, led by Architect Cristina Menezes, collaborated with Laís Laine, Roberta Antunes, Rani Melo, and Secretary Jackie Kelly to bring this visionary concept to life.

The "Pocket House" showcases the fusion of nature and modern living, featuring glass doors that provide ample ventilation, natural lighting, and picturesque garden views. The interior utilizes wood coatings to create a seamless, open living space, transcending traditional floor, wall, and ceiling boundaries.

Embracing sustainability, the design incorporates solar energy, dry construction techniques to minimize waste, and thermo-acoustic treatments for energy efficiency. The project's success in overcoming spatial constraints and budget limitations exemplifies the team's dedication to sustainable and affordable living solutions.

Architect Cristina Menezes, renowned for her innovative architectural and interior designs, established her studio in 1990.
