ATEK DESIGN Unveils Arena Shumen, a Landmark Sports Hall in Shumen, Bulgaria
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
ATEK DESIGN proudly presents Arena Shumen, a groundbreaking multifunctional sports hall designed by renowned architect Kalloyan Kollev. The project, initiated in February 2017 and completed in May 2018, has redefined urban architecture in Shumen, Bulgaria. Arena Shumen stands as an iconic, economically feasible expression of interior spaces into exterior volumes, serving as a vital building in the city.
Arena Shumen boasts a total area of 5600m2 and is situated within a 55,600m2 urban center, featuring a hotel complex, residential buildings, retail outlets, and open-air children's and sports playgrounds. The building's monolithic, beam-reinforced concrete construction, along with its steel roof and curved facade walls, sets it apart as a symbol of modernity and functionality.
Right after its opening, Arena Shumen became a focal point for the community, hosting not only sports events but also social activities and exhibitions. The design process involved a large team of over 30 designers, engineers, and artists, who meticulously analyzed international sports federations standards, local requirements, terrain conditions, and budget constraints to create a magnificent architectural form that meets all regulations.
ATEK DESIGN, founded in 1991 in Sofia, Bulgaria, has consistently delivered exceptional architectural designs. Kalloyan Kollev, the visionary architect behind Arena Shumen, has been recognized for his outstanding creativity and resourcefulness, earning the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award in 2023 for this remarkable project.
