Men-An Pan Transforms Decommissioned Campus into Pingtung AI Agriculture Hub
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Men-An Pan, in collaboration with Atelier Letâs + JR Architects, has transformed a decommissioned campus into the Pingtung AI Agriculture Hub, creating the Nanhua Glimmer landscape park. The design celebrates the regional nature features, translating them into geometric forms. The mist and glimmer resemble the collective memory of the locals, creating radiances around the streetlights afar.
The mist generating facility uses finer spraying nozzles to create a similar texture to mountain mists, irrigating the plants simultaneously. The light strips embedded in the installation disperse light evenly across the space. The retaining walls were constructed with traditional materials and the local construction method of terrazzo, providing a sense of familiarity to the audiences.
The project, located at No. 1, Shi 1st Rd., Gaoshu Township, Pingtung County 906001, Taiwan (R.O.C.), started in September 2020 and finished in December 2021. The design team overcame challenges including removing the former school campus wall, retaining mature trees, creating a space for all, and controlling the mist effects precisely.
Men-An Pan, born to a fisherman's family in Pingtung City, Taiwan, has been elected as county mayor, continuing to serve his people and his town. The Nanhua Glimmer design was awarded the Golden A' Design Award in 2022 for its outstanding and trendsetting creation that reflects the designer's prodigy and wisdom.
