Zhijiang Shan's Zun Fu Sales Center in Luoyang, China, has been honored with the Silver A' Design Award 2025 for its innovative reinterpretation of traditional Chinese ceremonial architecture within a contemporary sales environment, offering visitors an immersive journey through layered spatial experiences and refined materiality.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Zhijiang Shan's Zun Fu Sales Center, located in the historic city of Luoyang, redefines the real estate sales experience by weaving together traditional Chinese symbolism, ritualistic procession, and modern design sensibilities. Completed in December 2018, the 600-square-meter center serves as the main sales and exhibition hub for the Zun Fu residential development, inviting visitors to engage with both heritage and innovation from the moment they arrive.
Drawing inspiration from Luoyang's storied architecture and poetic traditions, the design features a layered spatial sequence that guides guests through zones of reception, negotiation, and contemplation. A central water feature anchors the lobby, while sculptural lighting and suspended installations animate the soaring 6.5-meter-high ceilings. The material palette-comprising stone, bamboo, brushed brass, dark wood, and rattan-evokes a sense of cultural continuity, while concealed LED lighting and custom crystal chandeliers create a dynamic, immersive atmosphere.
The project's realization involved advanced fabrication techniques, such as CNC engraving and modular dry-hang systems, seamlessly blending natural stone, brushed metal, and wood veneer with traditional textures. The visitor journey is orchestrated with ritualistic rhythm: entry via a pine-lined pathway, passage through a ceremonial gateway, and transitions through storytelling, negotiation, and contract signing areas. Each spatial modulation and lighting transition reinforces the narrative, offering a calm yet engaging environment that balances functional clarity with symbolic depth.
Extensive research into traditional Chinese spatial rhythm, user behavior, and ceremonial flow underpinned the design process. The challenge lay in translating cultural heritage into a modern commercial context, ensuring that every detail-from the marble flooring and brass inlays to the custom aluminum panels and stone carvings-supported both aesthetic excellence and operational efficiency. The result is a sales center that not only facilitates business but also celebrates the enduring resonance of Chinese ritual and artistry in contemporary life.
