FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
"The Joy Of Swimming Fish," designed by Qian Zhen and completed in Shanghai in June 2023, has been recognized with the prestigious Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category. Drawing inspiration from the classic "Pond Dialogue" between Zhuangzi and Huizi, the exhibition space explores the philosophical question of understanding joy from another's perspective, using the motif of swimming fish as a metaphor for unity and reflection.
The design stands out for its seamless integration of profound cultural heritage and modern architectural techniques. Set within a rectangular glass structure measuring 21.5 meters long, 8.2 meters high, and 13.3 meters wide, the space features flowing curves and dynamic forms that evoke the sensation of fish gliding through water. This approach not only creates a visually striking environment but also fosters a poetic and contemplative atmosphere, encouraging visitors to consider the interconnectedness of humanity, nature, and society.
Central to the concept is the interactive experience: visitors are invited to "swim" through the space, engaging with both the art and the philosophical ideas it embodies. The design's fluidity and openness reflect Eastern philosophies of harmony and dialectical unity, while its practical layout ensures functionality for exhibitions and events. Overcoming the challenge of translating abstract philosophical debate into a tangible, usable environment, Qian Zhen's project exemplifies how art, culture, and design can converge to create spaces with both aesthetic and educational significance.
