Chong Hean Teo's Montigo Experience Store, completed in October 2024 at ION Orchard Singapore, reimagines retail with a curvilinear, immersive environment inspired by Montigo's signature thermal bottles, blending kinetic digital displays, sustainable materials, and interactive customization to create a multisensory, eco-friendly shopping experience.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Montigo Experience Store, designed by Chong Hean Teo and unveiled in October 2024 at ION Orchard Singapore, introduces a groundbreaking approach to retail architecture and brand engagement. Drawing inspiration from the ergonomic curves of Montigo's thermal bottles, the store's undulating façade and interior layout create a seamless connection between product and environment. The centerpiece-a dynamic curved video wall-serves as both a visual anchor and a sustainable alternative to traditional signage, replacing disposable posters with adaptive digital content to significantly reduce material waste and carbon footprint.
Visitors to the Montigo Experience Store are invited into a "Hydration Haven," where interactive laser-engraving stations and a vibrant "color wonderland" offer opportunities for personalized bottle customization. This multisensory journey is designed to transcend the transactional, encouraging customers to engage with color, light, and tactile experiences that reinforce Montigo's ethos of individuality and environmental stewardship. The store's compact footprint-approximately 452 square feet-was maximized through strategic use of technology and curvilinear forms, ensuring high visibility and accessibility in the bustling transit-adjacent location.
Every aspect of the store's realization reflects a commitment to sustainability and innovation. The design process, initiated in June 2024, combined freehand sketches, AutoCAD layouts, and advanced 3D modeling with SketchUp and V-Ray. Durable, locally sourced materials were prioritized to withstand heavy foot traffic and align with circular design principles. The result is a retail environment that not only drives footfall and dwell time but also sets a new benchmark for eco-conscious retail, earning the Iron A' Design Award in 2025 for its integration of best practices, technical excellence, and positive environmental impact.
