GOOD PLACE, an innovative Tokyo-based design firm, has announced the completion of "Jp Base Ningyocho," a pioneering office renovation project located at 2-24-4 Nihonbashi Ningyocho, Tokyo. Finished in December 2024, this five-story, 402-square-meter building reimagines the traditional Japanese office by blending historical elements with modern Parisian apartment aesthetics. The project responds to the growing demand for flexible, collaborative workspaces, particularly among startups and companies seeking dynamic environments for partnership and creativity.
Drawing inspiration from Nihonbashi's rich Edo-period heritage and its reputation as a financial and commercial hub, the design team at GOOD PLACE, led by Tomonobu Shinoda and directed by Goushi Ishikawa, introduced the concept of the "Apartment Office." The space features a cozy lounge facing the street, open-plan work areas, and a conference room with slit glass for visual connectivity, all designed to foster creativity, comfort, and collaboration. Key design features include a herringbone floor pattern, glass pendant lighting, black lattice windows, and antique-style brass fixtures, seamlessly merging old-world charm with contemporary functionality.
Jp Base Ningyocho stands out for its innovative approach to adaptive reuse, emphasizing value enhancement and sustainability with minimal structural changes. The project also incorporates real estate crowdfunding, pioneered by LEVECHY Corporation, offering fully furnished, flexible office spaces for modern businesses. By revitalizing an aging building and integrating sustainable practices, GOOD PLACE has created a unique environment that honors the neighborhood's history while supporting the evolving needs of Tokyo's entrepreneurial community. The project's excellence was recognized with the Iron A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2025, underscoring its practical, innovative, and industry-leading qualities.
