Yaser and Yasin Rashid Shomali's Jaqalan project, a pair of eco-conscious luxury villas in Zekeriyaköy, Istanbul, has been honored with the Silver A' Design Award 2025 for its innovative integration of modern aesthetics, sustainable materials, and harmonious connection with the natural landscape.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Jaqalan project, designed by Yaser and Yasin Rashid Shomali, has been recognized with the prestigious Silver A' Design Award 2025 in the Architecture, Building and Structure Design category. Situated in the lush hills of Zekeriyaköy, Istanbul, Jaqalan consists of two architecturally unified villas that exemplify the seamless blend of contemporary design and environmental responsibility. The project stands out for its dynamic sloped roofs, which not only create a striking visual identity but also address the region's heavy rainfall and facilitate solar panel integration.
Jaqalan's design philosophy centers on harmony with nature and modern living. The villas utilize reinforced concrete and steel for structural integrity, while advanced modular construction techniques minimize waste and improve efficiency. Expansive glass facades maximize natural light and panoramic views, creating a strong connection between indoor and outdoor spaces. The open floor plans and large terraces encourage social interaction, while the use of sustainable materials and energy-efficient solutions, such as solar panels and rainwater management systems, set a new benchmark for residential architecture in Turkey.
The project comprises a 1,000 square meter villa with five bedrooms and a 400 square meter villa with three bedrooms, both designed to provide comfort, openness, and privacy. The sloped lot ensures unobstructed views and abundant daylight, while the villas' high ceilings and dynamic interiors promote a sense of spaciousness. Overcoming regulatory and technical challenges, the design team collaborated closely with local authorities to achieve compliance without compromising innovation. Jaqalan's success reflects a broader commitment to sustainable living and architectural excellence, inspiring future developments in the region.
