Enjoei Headquarters: A Futuristic, Sustainable Workspace in Oscar Niemeyer's Copan Building

Enjoei's new headquarters, designed by Nara Grossi and her team at Gema Arquitetura, reimagines the iconic Copan building in downtown São Paulo as a vibrant, sustainable office space. Completed in July 2024, the 2,100m² project reflects a deep respect for Oscar Niemeyer's modernist legacy while introducing innovative features that support Enjoei's mission and the revitalization of the city center. The design embraces the building's original finishes, integrates recycled materials, and preserves the architectural rhythm of Niemeyer's vision, creating a unique blend of heritage and contemporary function.

The project's concept was shaped by extensive research into the Copan's history and its role in São Paulo's urban landscape. Grossi's team prioritized sustainability by restoring existing elements, using recycled fabrics, and minimizing waste through thoughtful material choices. The predominance of white surfaces, custom carpets, and curated furniture contribute to a floating, futuristic atmosphere, while the layout fosters fluid movement and a sense of belonging. Meeting rooms were designed with cost-effective acoustic solutions, and the original terrace was reimagined as an internal street, enhancing both connectivity and natural light for the 230 employees.

Facing the challenge of respecting Niemeyer's architectural language while meeting modern workplace needs, the design demonstrates how obsolete buildings can be revitalized through responsible, innovative architecture. The project not only supports Enjoei's growth but also sets a benchmark for sustainable office design in historic urban contexts. The result is a calm, inspiring environment that has reinvigorated the team's daily work experience and contributed to the ongoing requalification of São Paulo's city center. This achievement was recognized with the Silver A' Design Award in 2025, highlighting the project's excellence in interior space and sustainable design.
