FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Ethereal Essence, the latest project by designer Meng Chen Ho, stands as a testament to the harmonious integration of art, function, and wellness in commercial interiors. Located in Taipei, Taiwan, this 260-square-meter plastic surgery clinic was conceived and realized in just six months, overcoming significant challenges in budget, timeline, and technical requirements. The project's core philosophy is rooted in the tranquil principles of Chinese and Japanese Zen, aiming to create a serene, welcoming environment that transcends the typical clinical atmosphere.
The clinic's spatial layout is meticulously zoned using high-back wooden screens and semi-transparent panel curtains, offering a delicate balance between openness and privacy. Unlike conventional solid partitions, these movable elements allow for effortless reconfiguration, enabling the space to adapt for private consultations, public events, or quiet reflection. The use of natural materials-ink-wash-inspired stone, wood paneling, emerald-green glass, and black bentwood butterfly stools-imbues the clinic with warmth and timeless elegance, while subtle earth tones and soft textures foster a calming ambiance.
To address budget constraints without compromising on quality or aesthetics, Meng Chen Ho employed innovative construction techniques, such as splicing premium stone slabs with cost-effective wood veneers. The flexible partition system, featuring lightweight panel curtains and removable screens, not only enhances functionality but also maximizes the flow of natural light, ensuring the clinic remains inviting and uplifting. This thoughtful approach, combined with the integration of medical engineering standards and fireproof, durable materials, has resulted in a space that is both highly functional and artistically distinguished-qualities recognized by the 2025 Iron A' Design Award jury.
