Porto Folio Architects has been honored with the Silver A' Design Award 2025 for CTG Sanya Treasure, a multifamily residential project in Haitang Bay, Hainan Island, China, featuring 38 medium-rise towers designed to blend seamlessly with lush tropical landscapes and promote a vibrant, communal lifestyle inspired by nature.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CTG Sanya Treasure, designed by Porto Folio Architects, stands as a visionary residential vacation community on Hainan Island, China. The project comprises 38 medium-rise towers nestled within a dense tropical landscape along the river in Haitang Bay. Each tower is carefully positioned to maximize sea breezes, panoramic views, and a sense of surprise, with lush vegetation artfully concealing entrances and fostering a sense of discovery for residents and visitors alike.
The development is distinguished by its commitment to restoring the human senses through architecture. Each floor contains just two private residences with open floor plans, ensuring cross-ventilation and an uninterrupted flow between indoor and outdoor spaces. Wrap-around balconies encircle the living areas, allowing residents to experience ever-changing cloudscapes, sea breezes, and the vibrant greenery both at ground level and on their own terraces. The master plan emphasizes relaxed pedestrian circulation, easy access to a forthcoming commercial center, and a strong connection to the surrounding cultural amenities.
CTG Sanya Treasure's realization relied on locally sourced construction materials and innovative design strategies, such as dark reflective glass balustrades for privacy, energy-efficient windows, and gently pitched roofs for optimal rainfall management. The project overcame significant challenges, including frequent changes in allowable building heights, resulting in over 50 master plan iterations before final approval. Construction began in 2022, with teams collaborating from Montreal, Hainan, and Shanghai; half of the towers are now completed and sold, with full completion expected by the end of 2025. The project's excellence and creativity were recognized with the prestigious Silver A' Design Award, celebrating its outstanding technical and artistic achievement in contemporary residential architecture.
