Nautilus: A Futuristic Yacht Sales Office Inspired by Maritime Elegance and Innovation

Nautilus, designed by Ezgi Gokce, reimagines an outdated yacht manufacturing facility in Izmir, Turkey, into a state-of-the-art sales and management office that celebrates the artistry and exclusivity of the yachting world. Drawing inspiration from the fluidity of water and the graceful curves of luxury yacht hulls, the project embodies a seamless fusion of innovation, complexity, and the essence of the sea. The transformation was completed in December 2024, following extensive research into yacht showroom design, customer expectations, and spatial ergonomics.

The interior features a carefully planned layout that guides visitors along illuminated pathways, leading to a sculptural reception desk reminiscent of a yacht's form. This focal point, crafted from solid wood with a high-gloss lacquer finish, is complemented by a custom lighting installation and a large LED display showcasing ocean-inspired NFT artwork. The use of high-end materials-such as polished marble flooring, microcement cladding, metallic panels, and structural glass partitions-creates a futuristic ambiance while maintaining a sense of luxury and openness.

Functionality is at the core of Nautilus's design, with executive offices featuring custom furnishings and glass partitions that promote both transparency and privacy. The integration of advanced construction techniques and a dedicated LED lighting system highlights key architectural features without overwhelming the space. Overcoming the challenge of transforming an industrial environment into an inviting, exclusive setting, Gokce's design balances modern aesthetics with the practical needs of a high-end sales office. The project's innovative approach and attention to detail were recognized with the Iron A' Design Award in 2025, underscoring its impact on contemporary interior design.
