Taichung-based Borg Design Interior has been honored with a Bronze A' Design Award for its "Fluid Rhythm" studio, a groundbreaking workspace completed in January 2024 that redefines the boundaries between function and emotion through dynamic light, material interplay, and immersive sensory experiences.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Borg Design Interior's latest project, "Fluid Rhythm," has been recognized with a Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category for 2025. Located in Taichung, Taiwan, and completed in January 2024, this two-story, 148.5-square-meter design studio serves as both a functional workspace and a living showroom. Inspired by the fluidity of water and the interplay of light and reflection, the studio is conceived as a sensory-driven environment that dissolves the boundaries between architecture and user experience.
Every element of "Fluid Rhythm" is meticulously curated to invite interaction and exploration. The design features layered curves that guide movement, surfaces that transition from raw to refined textures, and embedded LED sensors that respond to visitors' steps. Materials such as Titanium Oxide Metal, Optical Acrylic, and Low Carbon Composite Stone are employed for their reflective and translucent qualities, while Japanese-imported eggshell paint regulates humidity and reduces glare, enhancing comfort and environmental adaptability. The large-scale sliding door, a technical highlight, seamlessly integrates with the space, demonstrating advanced craftsmanship and engineering.
The studio's layout is thoughtfully divided: the ground floor houses reception, storage, and guest facilities, while the upper floor offers a main workspace, kitchen, lounge, and private amenities. Visitors are guided through an immersive journey, with light cues embedded in the floor and sculpted forms overhead casting dynamic shadows. A vivid orange restroom provides a striking visual pause, reinforcing the project's commitment to engaging all the senses. As a live demonstration, the studio showcases a spectrum of finishes and techniques, some deliberately left unfinished to foster material comparison and design exploration.
Underlying the project is a foundation of applied design research, including spatial prototyping, user observation, and movement tracking. The findings informed the integration of interactive lighting and contrasting textures, which have proven to enhance spatial awareness and user engagement. Overcoming challenges such as the precision engineering of the sliding door and the seamless integration of diverse materials, Borg Design Interior has created a cohesive, authentic spatial identity that elevates both workplace and exhibition design.
