Valencia House: Award-Winning Contemporary Retreat Integrates Architecture with Nature in São Paulo's Countryside

Padovani Arquitetos has achieved international recognition with the Platinum A' Design Award 2025 for Valencia House, a contemporary summer residence located in Porto Feliz, São Paulo. Conceived as a tranquil retreat for a culturally diverse family, the project stands out for its sensitive adaptation to the natural topography, embedding the main structure into the sloping terrain to minimize vertical impact and maximize panoramic views. The design's horizontal lines and slender forms create a harmonious balance, ensuring the three-story home blends seamlessly with its surroundings.

Valencia House's unique character is defined by its direct integration between interior spaces and the surrounding landscape. Expansive, permeable social areas foster a sense of openness, while the use of natural stone, exposed concrete, lime beton, and wooden slats reflects a blend of rustic and contemporary aesthetics. The residence features seven suites, a gym, and a pool finished with natural Hijau stone, all designed to provide comfort, beauty, and a strong connection to nature. Reinforced concrete and a metal framework enable large openings and lightweight volumes, further enhancing the home's visual and functional appeal.

The project, initiated in 2020 and completed in 2022, overcame significant design and technical challenges, including adapting initial concepts to meet the client's evolving needs and ensuring contextual suitability. Despite refinements in materialization and detailing, the core design principles-panoramic views, strategic block overlays, and vernacular Brazilian materials-remained intact. The result is a residence that not only meets the practical requirements of its owners but also sets a new standard for luxury countryside living, earning global acclaim for its innovation and excellence.
