Miaoli County, Taiwan - July 2024 - "Layers of Mountains," an interior design project by Yi-Lun Hsu, has been honored with the Bronze A' Design Award 2025 for its creative transformation of natural landscapes into a harmonious living space that seamlessly connects residents with the surrounding mountain scenery.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Yi-Lun Hsu's "Layers of Mountains" project redefines residential interior design by drawing direct inspiration from Miaoli County's iconic mountain ridges and flowing rivers. Completed in July 2024, the 100-square-meter residence features a unique interplay of continuous, three-dimensional lines and earthy tones that echo the natural environment outside. The design's central concept is to extend the visual axis from the interior toward the expansive mountain views, fostering a sense of coexistence with nature.
The project's elongated living space is thoughtfully divided into fluid yet independent functional zones, including a transitional dust area, a mountain-facing living room, a versatile island and dining space, and a dedicated stir-fried kitchen. The three-tiered ceiling cleverly conceals air purification and ventilation systems, maximizing ceiling height and maintaining a clean aesthetic. Natural light enhances the earth-toned walls, while custom linear light boxes and architectural beams evoke the layered depth of mountain landscapes, drawing the eye outward and blurring the boundary between indoors and outdoors.
"Layers of Mountains" is also distinguished by its commitment to sustainability and wellness, adhering to the WELL Building Standard®. The residence incorporates advanced air and water purification systems, eco-friendly materials such as EU Ecolabel-certified tiles and FSC-certified cabinetry, and low-emission paints and finishes. These features ensure a healthy, environmentally responsible living environment that supports both human well-being and ecological harmony. The project's innovative approach and technical excellence have earned it the Bronze A' Design Award, recognizing its contribution to quality of life and sustainable design.
