Yutaifeng Hotel Blends Oriental Charm, Artistic Expression, and Sustainable Design in Yingshan, China

Yutaifeng Hotel, designed by Ying Zhu and her team at Kunze Design, has been recognized with the Bronze A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award for 2025. Situated in Yingshan, China, and completed in March 2024, the 6,300-square-meter hotel is a contemporary homage to Jiangnan culture, featuring a central waterscape courtyard and a harmonious blend of architecture, landscape, and interior artistry. The project stands out for its immersive spatial journey, where guests encounter shifting garden vistas, tranquil atmospheres, and a unique sense of peace inspired by traditional Chinese aesthetics.

Upon entering the hotel, visitors are greeted by a grand dome that embodies oriental elegance and scale, setting the tone for a sensory experience that unfolds through hazy corridors, bamboo walkways, and art-adorned spaces. The design emphasizes the interplay between nature and culture, integrating organic materials such as wood and textured paint to foster a sustainable relationship with the environment. Lighting is thoughtfully orchestrated to highlight natural beauty and support energy efficiency, with an emphasis on "seeing light, not lamps."

Artistic installations are thoughtfully positioned throughout the hotel, from the tea room and restaurant to guest rooms and garden corners, echoing the designer's vision of a dynamic, ever-changing spatial narrative. The project also features organic crop planting areas and roof gardens, reinforcing its commitment to nature and healthy living. Yutaifeng Hotel aspires to set a new benchmark for urban micro vacations, blending Eastern values, art, and personalized service to create a holistic and enriching guest experience. This award-winning project exemplifies the fusion of tradition and innovation, offering a contemporary sanctuary rooted in cultural depth and environmental consciousness.
