"Micro and Macro" Apartment: Award-Winning Redesign for Lasting Family Comfort and Functionality

Woo Ta Chuan's "Micro and Macro" project transforms an 88.5-square-meter apartment in Hsinchu City into a harmonious, flexible home tailored for a couple and their two young daughters. Completed between May and September 2024, the design addresses the family's need for a durable, adaptable living environment that can evolve alongside their children. The project's recognition with the Bronze A' Design Award 2025 highlights its creative integration of space efficiency, Feng Shui, and contemporary aesthetics.

The apartment's original four-room layout was reimagined to provide a larger master bedroom and a dedicated dressing area, optimizing flow and function. The designer utilized beams and columns to naturally delineate spaces, softening transitions with curved forms and warm Maillard-inspired tones. Circular motifs and titanium-plated finishes create a cohesive visual language, while thoughtful lighting and material choices enhance the home's inviting atmosphere. Storage is seamlessly integrated throughout, including multifunctional vestibule cabinets and a dining area that doubles as a mini bar and wine display, reflecting the owner's lifestyle and needs.

Special attention was given to Feng Shui, with strategic placement of furniture and soft finishes to foster comfort and tranquility. The living room features artistic yet practical elements, such as a wooden grille and stone-accented TV wall, maximizing both aesthetics and storage. The redesign not only improves spatial efficiency but also ensures the home remains adaptable for the family's future, embodying Woo Ta Chuan's philosophy of blending international sophistication with deeply personal, functional design.
