Kazhe Lounge: Redefining Urban Hospitality with Sculptural Design and Immersive Atmosphere in Qom

Kazhe Lounge stands as a testament to innovative architectural thinking, delivering a refreshing urban sanctuary in the heart of Qom's desert landscape. Conceived by Soroosh Roghanian and realized by Shabahang Office, the project was inspired by the desire to create a stark contrast to the city's hot, arid surroundings. The interior is defined by cool, dark tones, lush greenery, and sculptural flamingo motifs, symbolizing freedom and inviting visitors into a tranquil, immersive environment. The design's flexible layout-spanning closed, semi-open, and open spaces-caters to diverse experiences, from intimate gatherings to lively social events.

Central to Kazhe Lounge's identity is its unique chandelier, crafted from intertwined iron sheets and extending across two floors, serving as both a visual anchor and a conversation piece. Modular seating and varied ceiling heights further enhance the space's adaptability, allowing for seamless transitions between relaxation, dining, and social interaction. The use of high-quality, textured materials ensures durability while maintaining a striking visual contrast with the desert exterior. Each design choice, from the broken forms to the sculptural elements, was meticulously planned to foster exploration and sensory engagement.

The project's realization required balancing modern design ambitions with local cultural and regulatory considerations. Roghanian's team employed advanced digital modeling, environmental analysis, and collaborative material studies to ensure both aesthetic appeal and user comfort. Overcoming challenges related to context and construction, Kazhe Lounge now stands as a model for sustainable, user-centered design in urban hospitality. Its recognition with the Bronze A' Design Award highlights the project's contribution to architectural innovation and quality of life in Qom.
