Wen Shan Hai: A Cultural Beacon Merging Moutai Heritage and Contemporary Design in Chongqing

Completed in August 2024, this experience center invites visitors to embark on a sensory journey through the world of China's national liquor. The space is defined by a sweeping dome, soft lighting, and a modernist framework that bridges ancient traditions with contemporary design, offering a ceremonial atmosphere that honors both heritage and innovation.

The center's layout is meticulously crafted, featuring display cabinets and tasting areas that meander through the space, encouraging exploration and discovery. Ancient bronze surfaces and a harmonious blend of metal and glass evoke the historical significance of Moutai, while the integration of tea culture and liquor tasting creates a timeless, understated environment. The atrium, surrounded by corridors and adorned with traditional roof tiles and eaves, forms an inviting courtyard that reflects the rhythmic beauty of Eastern architecture.

Every detail of Wen Shan Hai is infused with cultural meaning, from the green mountain wall fabric in the reception area to the emerald stone-patterned front desk, evoking the tranquil sounds of silk and bamboo. The mirrored ceiling expands the visual experience, while themed private banquet rooms along the corridor immerse guests in diverse regional and cultural narratives. Iconic Chongqing landmarks are woven into the design, blending painting, sculpture, and historical references to create a space that is both a cultural landmark and a spiritual retreat. This achievement has been recognized with the prestigious Platinum A' Design Award, underscoring the project's contribution to advancing the boundaries of interior design and cultural expression.
