Serene Luxe: Award-Winning Modern Residential Apartment Design in Taichung City

"Serene Luxe," designed by Guan Yu Lai, is a 163-square-meter residential apartment that redefines modern family living through a harmonious balance of simplicity, functionality, and adaptability. Completed in October 2023 in Taichung City, this project was conceived for a family seeking a home that supports both present and future needs, emphasizing a minimalist aesthetic and comprehensive life functions. The design's open-plan common area fosters direct interaction among family members, while a multi-functional room ensures the space can evolve as the family grows.

Distinctive features set Serene Luxe apart, including an open layout that maximizes spatial flow and light, a palette of soft colors for a calm atmosphere, and three private bedrooms tailored for comfort and flexibility. The master bedroom's unique curved half-wall subtly separates the dressing area without sacrificing openness or brightness. Custom storage solutions, such as a lightweight hanging TV cabinet and integrated cabinetry, provide ample space for belongings while maintaining visual clarity and reducing clutter.

Material selection and color harmony were central challenges, addressed through careful research and a nuanced approach to blending textures and hues. Grey tones connect the living room and kitchen, while cabinetry and furniture choices echo throughout the apartment to create a seamless visual experience. The dining table's connection to the kitchen island not only expands meal preparation space but also serves as a versatile area for children's play and learning, allowing parents to engage with their children during daily routines.

This thoughtful approach to design, which anticipates the evolving dynamics of family life, has earned Serene Luxe the prestigious Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category for 2025. The award recognizes the project's excellence in integrating best industry practices, technical competence, and a commitment to enhancing quality of life through innovative residential design.
