FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Arc Radiance, designed by Bo Yan Chen and completed in June 2024 in Taichung City, Taiwan, has been recognized with the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category. This 93-square-meter apartment stands out for its thoughtful integration of warm wood tones, indirect lighting, and multifunctional features, all tailored to foster a "warm and sweet" atmosphere as envisioned by the homeowners. The project's design philosophy centers on enhancing daily living by seamlessly blending comfort, practicality, and visual spaciousness.
One of the apartment's most distinctive features is its multifunctional entryway cabinet, which efficiently combines shoe storage, a wardrobe for dirty clothes, a platform, and a seating area-maximizing utility in a compact space. The open-plan living and dining areas are unified by light colors and cylindrical grille panels, creating a harmonious and inviting environment. To address the spatial challenge posed by the limited three-meter distance between the TV wall and the sofa, the design employs a parallel expansion technique: curved plates and cylindrical grating panels extend the visual field, making the space feel larger and more open.
Innovative solutions were also implemented to overcome technical challenges, such as three prominent ceiling beams that could have created a sense of compression. Instead of concealing these beams, the design uses height differences and curved lines to visually blur their presence and extend sightlines, maintaining an airy feel. The children's room features a flexible platform that can convert into a wide bed for up to four people, while the public areas are bathed in soft, uniform light thanks to embedded and linear lamps. The entryway's terrazzo flooring, with a five-centimeter height difference, not only enhances dust control but also adds a refined touch to the entrance. These elements collectively demonstrate Arc Radiance's commitment to quality of life improvements, earning it recognition as an outstanding example of contemporary residential design.
