Chien Sen Wang's "Greatest Luck" residence in Taichung, completed in January 2024, has been honored with the Iron A' Design Award for its innovative blend of family-focused living, modern aesthetics, and a unique Korean-inspired guest space that seamlessly balances hospitality and private family life.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Chien Sen Wang's "Greatest Luck" residence stands as a testament to thoughtful design that prioritizes both family life and social hospitality. Located in Taichung, Taiwan, this five-story, 390-square-meter home was conceived for a couple and their two children, with a vision to create a harmonious environment that supports learning, comfort, and entertaining guests. Drawing inspiration from the owner's fondness for Korean restaurant culture, the design uniquely integrates a guest house in the basement, offering a vibrant yet unobtrusive space for gatherings without disturbing the children's routines.
The basement, cleverly combined with the garage, is transformed into a guest area reminiscent of a Korean pub, complete with entertainment features such as a KTV club, electric mahjong table, wine refrigerator, and smart lighting. This innovative approach not only maximizes the use of a long, narrow, and originally dark space but also enhances accessibility for visitors. The use of a mirror ceiling and a fireplace further expands the sense of space and warmth, turning a challenging area into a lively and welcoming hub for social interaction.
On the first floor, an open-plan kitchen and public area are defined by classic black, white, and gray tones, complemented by milk tea-colored art paint walls and a leather sofa. Imported German kitchen appliances, handle-free cabinetry, and smart storage solutions cater to the owner's passion for cooking and entertaining. Upstairs, the private quarters feature modern bedrooms with layered wall finishes and intelligent lighting, ensuring a personalized and comfortable environment for each family member. The project's success in overcoming technical challenges and its seamless integration of lifestyle needs and aesthetics have earned it the Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category for 2025.
