FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Circadian Home: Award-Winning Highrise Residence Embraces Nature, Simplicity, and Wellbeing

The Circadian Home, designed by Camille Chung of Devalo Design, stands as a testament to the evolving needs of modern living in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Located on the 29th floor of a high-rise in Shanghai, this 310-square-meter residence was conceived as a sanctuary that harmonizes with the natural circadian rhythms, promoting relaxation, health, and fulfillment. The project was initiated in March 2021 and completed in February 2022, overcoming significant challenges posed by travel restrictions and remote collaboration.

Chung's design philosophy centers on simplicity and the seamless integration of daily life functions. The layout was meticulously crafted to accommodate the client's desire for both private and social spaces, including two bedrooms, a private workspace, a family room, and an open dining area for entertaining guests. Innovative solutions, such as factory-produced finishes and cabinetry, minimized on-site pollution and material waste, while the use of thin marble slabs with aluminum backing underscored a commitment to sustainability and efficient installation.

Throughout the project, advanced technology played a crucial role in bridging distances between the designer, client, and construction teams. Tools like Zoom, 3D modeling, and 360-degree photography enabled real-time problem-solving and supervision, even for complex features like a three-meter cantilevered structure inspired by the client's passion for sailing. The result is a bespoke, intuitive home environment where natural light, open spaces, and hidden mechanisms work in harmony to support wellbeing and effortless living, embodying both aesthetic excellence and practical innovation.
