Innova Cafe: Award-Winning Interior Design Blending Comfort, Art, and Innovation in Istanbul

Innova Cafe, designed by Harun Ayaydın and located in Sancaktepe, Istanbul, has received the prestigious Iron A' Design Award 2025 in the Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design category. The project was conceived in response to changing social habits post-pandemic, aiming to create a welcoming space where guests can unwind, enjoy quality coffee, and immerse themselves in art and music. The design process began in October 2023 and culminated in February 2024, resulting in a venue that reimagines the traditional cafe environment.

Distinguished by its innovative use of illuminated mirrors on the ceiling and walls, as well as custom wall paintings, Innova Cafe offers a unique depth perception and visual experience. The layout features distinct zones for reading, working, and socializing, with a bar crafted from marble positioned at the rear to optimize flow and customer gathering. Natural materials such as wood and fabric are used throughout the seating areas, complemented by greenery and modern touches to foster a calm, comfortable ambiance. The thoughtful arrangement of furniture and functional spaces encourages guests to linger, whether for work, leisure, or cultural engagement.

The design team prioritized convenience and comfort, removing existing dividing walls to open up the space and introducing new architectural elements to define functional areas. A high-ceilinged working zone, a prominent wooden bookshelf, and carefully selected floor materials-epoxy with wood and concrete aesthetics-reflect the project's commitment to both practicality and style. The cafe's concept is further enhanced by curated music and a focus on community, making it a standout destination in Istanbul's vibrant cafe scene. The Iron A' Design Award recognizes Innova Cafe's success in integrating industry best practices with a creative, user-centered approach, contributing to a more enjoyable and inspiring urban environment.
