The Verdant Syndicate, designed by acclaimed landscape architect Wei Dou, reimagines a former farmland in suburban Henan as a vibrant, sustainable mixed-use complex. Awarded the Silver A' Design Award in 2025, the project stands out for its integration of nature, community, and innovative technology within an urban context. Central to the design is an advanced stormwater management system that harnesses gravity-powered pipes to collect and filter rainwater, supporting plant growth with minimal energy consumption. The flexible planting board system allows tenants to personalize their spaces, adapting to changing needs and fostering a sense of ownership. Shared green areas encourage collaboration and community interaction, turning the complex into a hub for grassroots empowerment and social equity. The project's adaptable infrastructure not only enhances environmental performance but also enables sustainable economic growth for the community.

Wei Dou's approach was informed by rigorous research, including environmental simulations, expert consultations, and active participation from local communities.
