Award-winning designer Ryohei Kanda unveils RICCA, a bar in Kagurazaka, Tokyo, inspired by the fleeting beauty of cherry blossoms, featuring holographic resin flowers and immersive lighting to evoke the essence and duality of Hanami within a contemporary lounge and private karaoke space.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Tokyo, Japan - RICCA, the latest creation by acclaimed designer Ryohei Kanda, offers patrons a transformative experience that celebrates the Japanese tradition of Hanami, or cherry blossom viewing. Located in the culturally rich district of Kagurazaka, RICCA reimagines the fleeting beauty, glamour, strength, and fragility of cherry blossoms through a unique interior design that combines cutting-edge materials with traditional aesthetics. The bar features ceilings adorned with resin and hologram sheet flowers, laser-cut and suspended to evoke the sensation of petals fluttering in the spring breeze.
The 75.9m² space is divided into two distinct areas: a lounge that radiates elegance and allure, and a private karaoke room that channels the vibrant energy of Hanami celebrations. In the lounge, half-transparent red films on the resin flowers create a bewitching atmosphere, while the karaoke room uses natural holographic reflections to foster a lively ambiance. Ingeniously placed lighting, both inside and outside the hanging installations, projects dynamic, flower-like patterns onto the walls and ceilings, immersing guests in a constantly shifting landscape of color and light.
RICCA's design stands out for its meticulous craftsmanship and interactive qualities. Each hologram flower is individually bent and pressed by hand, ensuring that the interplay of light and reflection is unique from every angle and changes with the room's air circulation. The installation requires minimal maintenance and is intended as a permanent fixture, offering visitors a year-round Hanami experience. RICCA's innovative approach to interior design has earned it the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in 2017, recognizing its significant impact on art, science, and the advancement of design.
