Guanghai Cui completes the conservation project of the High Purity Taoist Palace, providing a balanced blend of tradition and modern architecture
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Guanghai Cui has unveiled the protective shelter for the High Purity Taoist Palace in Yingtan, Jiangxi, marking the completion of a conservation project that balances tradition and modern architectural philosophy. The shelter, designed to recall classical Chinese architectural style, features curved hip roofs and gable roofs, manifesting the hierarchic order of the historical buildings of the Taoist palace.
The steel structure of the shelter creates a column-free space of 30m in length and width, while the foundations were precisely constructed to minimize interference with the unearthed remains and underground relics. The project, which commenced in May 2019, was completed in July 2021.
The project aimed to achieve the goals of conservation, exhibition, and interpretation of the archaeological remains excavated from the historic High Purity Taoist Palace. The design successfully respects and emphasizes the genius loci of the site, achieving a balance between conservation and religious usage.
